I am Head of the Costs Department and a costs law specialist. I have been an Associate since 2004 and Fellow from 2006, I was a member of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen (now Association of Costs Lawyers) to 2013. In 2010 and 2011 I was also a tutor at the ALCD.

I have worked for Tinsdills since September 2000. As a costs specialist acting for clients with costs liabilities, I receive instructions to query client exposure and to dispute bills of costs where appropriate. As a costs specialist acting for clients with costs orders in their favour, I prepare bills of costs and provide advice on reasonable settlement sums. I attend Court to represent client interests in the event that costs cannot be agreed. I also work with our Debt Recovery department to recover monies owed or to obtain and enforce relevant Court Orders.

    I have specialist expertise in:

    • Drafting or disputing private client and inter parties bills of costs, particularly in high value civil litigation such as personal injury or professional negligence cases.
    • I prepare points of dispute and replies,
    • I represent my firm at Court hearings on all costs matters.
    • My job also involves preparation of costs budgets and attendance at costs and case management hearings at Courts around the country in high value cases.

Over the years I have done everything from spending 10 minutes with clients explaining the operation of “No win, no fee” agreements, retainer documents and letters seeking percentage deductions to damages, to attending at the Court of Appeal with Counsel on technical costs budgeting matters.

I am able to offer fixed fee consultations, and my charges are extremely modest in comparison with external or self-employed costs specialists. My aim is to provide excellent value for money and an exceptional service.

If you would like to discuss how I can help you, please do not hesitate to contact me by email to simon.green@tinsdills.co.uk or by telephone on 01782 652342.
