  • LPA Registration Fee Refund

If you registered a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) or Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) between 1st April 2013 and 31st March 2017 then you may be entitled to a refund of part of the OPG registration fee.

Between 2013 and 2017, the operating costs of the Office of the Public Guardian decreased but the registration fee stayed the same, at £110. As the registration fee is only supposed to cover operating costs, the Government is now repaying the difference between what applicants paid and what they should have paid, plus interest, as set out below.

    LPA Fee Refunds

There are two types of LPA, one for finance and property and another for health and welfare. Some will have registered both and so can claim a refund of up to £108, or if a couple registered both types of LPA then the refund could be up to £216.

    How to make a claim

You can claim your refund yourself using the gov.uk website address – https://www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney-refund

Alternatively we can support you in processing your claim. To find out more please contact Nicole Dean on Tel 01782 652311 or Nicole.Dean@tinsdills.co.uk.
