A Self-Invested Personal Pension (“SIPP”) is a type of personal pension plan that is becoming increasingly popular in the current financial climate. Whereby in a usual personal pension the provider acts as trustee and has ownership and control of the assets in the scheme, in a SIPP the member may have ownership of the assets as long as the scheme administrator is a co-trustee to exercise control.
This allows individuals to make their own investment decisions from the full range of investments approved by HM Revenue and Customs.
Investing via a SIPP is becoming increasingly popular as a tax efficient way to deal with commercial property. Our Commercial Property team have a great deal of experience in all types of commercial property transactions involving a SIPP, including sales and purchases, re-mortgaging and leases with a range of pension providers. We understand the need to keep everyone involved in the transaction at all times and are happy to liaise with pension trustees and accountants throughout if required.
Our expertise and knowledge of the requirements of pension providers ensures that your transaction will run smoothly and efficiently without the delays that can be caused by the more complex nature of work involving a SIPP and this has led to us being regularly recommended to clients by accountants and pension providers.
