Estate
Planning and Wills
It is not safe to assume that on your death your money, property
or possessions will automatically go to the people you wish to benefit.
If you do not make a Will the law decides who inherits your Estate,
not you.
Peter Hamilton, Partner at Tinsdills says:
“Making a Will gives you choice, certainty and piece of mind
that your Estate will go where you want it to go.
Your Will can also deal with many other things including inheritance
tax planning, funeral arrangements, appointing Executors and Trustees
of your choice, appointing Guardians for your children, arranging
legacies to family, friends or Charity and disposal of personal
items.
With a Solicitors help, the process of making a Will can be simple
and straightforward and can ensure that problems will be avoided.
For many people, inheritance tax planning is a major issue. The
main purpose of having a Will drawn up is to provide for those you
love rather than to deprive the tax man, but with good legal advice
you may find that you are able to do both! Except complicated cases,
the cost of making a Will is very modest and is well worth it for
the piece of mind it brings. Even if you already have a Will, it
is important that you review that Will regularly to take account
any significant change of circumstances for you or your beneficiaries.
